The Membership & Professional Development committee is responsible for preparing members for an education and/or career in the field of law, increasing and sustaining membership, and encouraging involvement.

Members and Responsibilities (2017-2018)

Chair: Secretary (Tania Calle ’20)

Career Exploration Coordinators (2 Positions Open)

  • Creating opportunities and searching for resources that allow students to gain a sense of the legal profession and better prepare students for a legal career, including shadowing opportunities, visits to legal workplaces, workshops and seminars, and internship and career opportunities
  • Maintaining the Mentorship Program for members, including seeking out mentors, connecting members to alumni in the legal field, encouraging mentees and mentors to stay connected, and organizing all other aspects of the program

Legal Education Coordinator (Position Open)

  • Gathering resources to help students decide whether a legal education is right for them
  • Planning activities that help students prepare for the law school application process
  • Managing the Society’s LSAT Prep Program
  • Keeping members informed and educated about news, current events and discussions related to the field of law on a regular basis

Membership Coordinator (Position Open)

  • Keeping track of membership and attendance records
  • Coordinating recruitment efforts and encouraging member activities, including law society functions as well as intramural sports and community service
  • Maintaining relationships with past members
  • Assisting the Secretary in his/her responsibilities as Historian of the Society
  • Also serves as an ex-officio member of the Fundraising, Publicity & Outreach, and Events Planning Committees.
